This is from the surface pattern study for a competition I participated with a close friend last year. Maybe I will post other images later.
The grid for this circles is not simply orthogonal, so it needs some scripting work. The pattern can be adjusted in many ways. And the hole shape can be replaced by any form you input. Possibly I will play with the original GH file and produce more cool stuffs.
Since I always spent lots of effort on my GH definition and scriptings for just some simple applications, it may be a good thing to get back to them and rethink about other possibilities in the future.
